versions 4.4.0-108 and up hang on reboot; HP 8300 Elite CMT

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Shutdown works fine.
  On Reboot, the system hangs.

This is a problem on the current kernel ( and appears to
have been introduced in, 107 or 108. I make this assertion
because I have version and version available on my
computer. versions 105 and below work, versions 108 and up do not

I will upload a screen shot of the trace, since it occurs after drives
  are dismounted.

I started by making sure I have the most current firmware (BIOS) for
this computer. It is on the most recent version.
