After a simple upgrade with 16.04.1-Ubuntu to kernel 4.13.0-39.44, the 
authentication against 802.1x secured networks does not work anymore.
If I boot via an older kernel (4.13.0-37), networking works like a charm.
Other connections like DHCP, static IP or Radius authentication works as well.
This is also the reason why I filed the bug against the kernel, and not the 
network-manager or wpa_supplicant.
I have a vanilla ubuntu installation on a Lenovo T440s.
Network security settings are attached.
