Lukáš Chmela, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this. Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: latest-bios-v1.06 needs-upstream-testing regression- potential ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1046449 Title: Acer Aspire 8943G internal stereo microphone doesn't work Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The internal stereo microphone in the laptop doesn't work. A WORKAROUND is to mute one of the two channels - making the microphone input mono only - using e.g. hda_analyzer or possibly pavucontrol. I was not able to get both channels working simultaneously - as one channel's volume gets higher, the input volume gets lower and lower as if the two channels interfered. There is an existing bug #683901 filled about the stereo microphone. In addition, the built-in Dolby Home Theater 5.1 Cinematic Surround speakers are recognized at best as 4.0 (not using front center and LFE which is rear center) - only if I select 4.0 from the list in System volume, default is stereo (that's wrong, isn't it?!). I was not able to get these two speakers to work even using hda_analyzer. There is also a bug filled about it as bug #839800 but, as well as the thread at ALSA bug tracker, is dead. In the ALSA bugtracker, I was advised to send a mail to the ALSA mailing list - I tried sending the mail twice but was waiting a year for absolutely no response - the mail wasn't even published in the list if I'm right. I have really no idea what more could I do about it.
