  Fail to wake from suspend in Ubuntu 18.10

Bug description:
  This has all the hallmarks of Bug #1774950 excepting that no amount of
  kernel reversion seems to solve the problem.

  System sporadically works fine, but mostly fails to suspend properly
  according to /var/log/kern.log ...
