kay, as per https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H77I/#support an update is available for your BIOS (1004). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . I use Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS with linux-image-3.5.0 kernel. Yesterday I updated kernel from linux-image-3.5.0-25-generic up to linux- image-3.5.0-26-generic and after reboot it didn't find root partition. Then it have displayed an initramfs command line which didn't work with USB keyboard. In grub I booted previous kernel (linux-image-3.5.0-25-generic) and it works well. I have checked grub.cfg for misconfiguration, but parameters for each kernel were identical. After that I downgraded kernel to 3.2.0 as it is my remote server and I don't want to get such problems in future. P.S. I have created a report file under 3.2.0-39-generic kernel. P.P.S.
