Well, some more details are desired ;-) Which installation was done: LPAR, z/VM or KVM. In case of KVM how was it started (cmd-line?) What was entered during the installation - especially for the archive server? Is the system able to reach the outside world/internet - and with that the Ubuntu archives - at all? (You may start a 2nd ssh d-i instance, and select "Start shell" to test the connectivity.) and finally logs are needed, like /var/log/syslog. Ideally again open a ssh d-i session, select "Start installer (expert mode)" and further go with "Save debug logs". Select "web" and grab the logs from your local system via network (probably the easiest way):
