As of upgrade to kernel 5.3.0-42 I see errors in journal reported for
ELAN9038 HID.
$ uname -a

The same device on 5.3.0-40 works without issues.

I did find the same issue has been also reported on version 5.6 under
bug #206259 (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206259).
