When I upgrade my laptop (ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ZenBook
UX450FDX_UX480FD/UX450FDX, BIOS UX450FDX.307 07/05/2019) to the latest
BIOS (UX450FDX.313), the laptop keeps getting events to change the
display mode (FN+F8), when having an external monitor connected this
makes the laptop unusable, as the gnome mode selector keeps popping up.
When not using an external monitor it seriously hinders/slows down
keyboard input.

When I revert back to the previous BIOS (UX450FDX.307) everything is
fine again. What's odd is that when I use the FN+F8 button now I don't
get this gnome mode selector, it just changes the mode right away.

I'm guessing this is a bug in the kernel asus-wmi driver. I checked the
history of the kernel for the file "drivers/platform/x86/asus-wmi.c",
but I don't see anything that could have fixed this in 5.3+ kernels.

I'm willing to upgrade bios/kernel and/or test experimental drivers in
order to fix this.
