I just reproduced it and it is easy to reproduce, and I think this is a
new design on purpose in the gnome.

If there is no other audio apps (sink-inputs in the pulseaudio) than
"System Sounds" (#7), the adjustment volume slider will produce sound to
indicate the current output volume.

If there are other audio apps (#8), they will replace the "System
Sounds" when adjusting the volume slider. e.g. I run 'speaker-test -t
wav -c 2' in a terminal, this audio app will replace the "System Sounds"
when adjusting the volume slider, and the volume change is indicated by
speaker-test instead of "System Sounds"; After I close the speaker-test,
then the sound will come back to "System sounds" when adjusting the
volume slider.

So If you close those two audio apps with the name of "speech-
dispatcher-xxxx", the sound will be back to "System sounds".

So I think we should close this bug as invaliad?

Title:
  Volume slider doesn't produce sound

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hello,
  In Ubuntu 20.04:
After system boot there is sound and when I adjust volume with the slide (top
right corner of the screen) it produces default sound. About 10 minutes (may be
related to loading of certain s/w) later during the same session the slider
stops producing sound when I adjust volume. System sound is still present. I
also noticed that in Settings->Sound two more entries appear in "Volume
levels": 1. Speech-dispatcher-dummy; 2. Speech-dispatcher-espeak-ng. These two
entries are not present there right after system boot when everything works
fine. I also see these errors in Logs: "sof-audio-pci 0000:00:1f.3: error: no
reply expected, received 0x0".
  This bug is reproducible.
