Title:
After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers

After installing the latest Ubuntu kernel update, the screen of my HP
Spectre laptop began flickering into distorted illegibility at
frequent -- but unpredictable -- intervals. The machine is unusable
when this occurs. Additionally, GIMP has begun crashing
  unpredictably.

I have rebooted many times. I have changed the display drivers
(currently using the X.org driver). None of this has affected the
  problem.

I have searched online for possible fixes, and found nothing useful.
HP's "support" is useless, since they only deal with Windows.
StackExchange referred me to this site.

I hope I have reported correctly. Thank you.
