Hi

I am also having the same problem with Kernel 5.8.0-45.51.

The workaround posted above fixes it for me too.

Thanks

Title:
Unable to decrypt disk on boot

Status in linux-signed package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Good day,

I enabled disk encryption when installing Ubuntu and it has been
working flawlessly till kernel 5.8.0-45.51 was installed.

I keep getting this error when entering my password: "cryptsetup
failed, bad password or options". I was somehow able to fall back into
some shell while booting and it seems that any characters I type show
up as diamonds "♦", except for the numbers. I also came across this
thread which talks about a similar problem
  https://askubuntu.com/questions/1220022/keyboard-types-only-numbers-
  while-letters-are-typed-like-diamonds

Switching back to 5.8.0-44 fixes the issue for me.

  I'm currently on Ubuntu 20.10
Would be happy to provide more details.

  Thanks!
