Touchpad suddenly started working after a couple of restarts, maybe it could be an issue with the CMOS battery?

Shut off the computer only to start it up again and have the touchpad not working. Using Thinkpad T470S. Worth mentioning that the trackpoint (red button on keyboard) has not been working ever since install. Trackpad buttons (the three above the touchpad) do not work either, but they have worked once after intense googling, but do not work either right now.
