I have read the instructions on the report submission page and I believe I am following the guidance, but if I'm not it's because of unfamiliarity and general ignorance. I beg for your patience and understanding. For the listed kernels in the summary line (kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, and -27), my Acer Swift 3 laptop's screen crashes/reverts to snow/white noise immediately whenever the following conditions are met: 1) Any video peripheral is connected to the laptop via the HDMI port directly or through a USB-C hub with HDMI input AND 2) The "Mirror" selection is toggled in the Display Manager GUI OR 3) The HDMI cable is removed from the HDMI port/USB-C hub I can confirm that: 1) The HDMI cable is not the culprit because this issue doesn't manifest itself with Win10 or with Manjaro Linux, and 2) running Linux Mint 20.3 with the 5.11.0-46 kernel does not manifest any of the described screen crash issues listed above. That is to say, the laptop and peripheral HDMI display run stably/without issue while running Linux Mint 20.3 kernel 5.11.0-46 For your diagnostic consideration: System Info:
System: Kernel: 5.11.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 wm: muffin dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: Swift SF314-42 v: V1.10 serial: <filter> Mobo: RO model: Kona_RN v: V1.10 serial: <filter> UEFI: Insyde v: 1.10 date: 05/13/2021 Battery: ID-1: BAT1 charge: 15.4 Wh condition: 49.2/47.8 Wh (103%) volts: 10.9/11.2 model: LGC AP18C8K serial: <filter> status: Discharging CPU: Topology: 8-Core model: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics bits: 64 type: MCP arch: Zen rev: 1 L2 cache: 4096 KiB flags: avx avx2 lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm bogomips: 31938 Speed: 1397 MHz min/max: 1400/2000 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 1397 2: 1397 3: 1396 4: 1397 5: 1908 6: 1761 7: 1736 8: 2286 Graphics: Device-1: AMD Renoir vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: amdgpu v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.0 chip ID: 1002:1636 Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: amdgpu, ati unloaded: fbdev, modesetting, vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz, 1920x1080~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.0.3 compat-v: 3.1 direct render: Yes Audio: Device-1: AMD vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.1 chip ID: 1002:1637 Device-2: AMD Raven/Raven2/FireFlight/Renoir Audio Processor vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_rn_pci_acp3x v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.5 chip ID: 1022:15e2 Device-3: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.6 chip ID: 1022:15e3 Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-46-generic Network: Device-1: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 driver: iwlwifi v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0 chip ID: 8086:2723 IF: wlp1s0 state: up mac: <filter> Drives: Local Storage: total: 931.51 GiB used: 28.05 GiB (3.0%) ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Western Digital model: WDBRPG0010BNC-WRSN size: 931.51 GiB speed: 31.6 Gb/s lanes: 4 serial: <filter> Partition: ID-1: / size: 183.37 GiB used: 28.03 GiB (15.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/nvme0n1p5 USB: Hub: 1-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 Device-1: 1-4:6 info: Intel type: Bluetooth driver: btusb rev: 2.0 chip ID: 8087:0029 Hub: 2-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 Hub: 3-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 Device-2: 3-1:2 info: LighTuning EgisTec EH575 type: <vendor specific> driver: N/A rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1c7a:0575 Device-3: 3-4:3 info: Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse with Tilt Wheel type: Mouse driver: hid-generic,usbhid rev: 2.0 chip ID: 045e:00d2 Hub: 4-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 41.8 C mobo: N/A gpu: amdgpu temp: 40 C Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A Repos: No active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list 1: deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg arch=amd64] https: //brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list 1: deb [arch=amd64] https: //dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list 1: deb http: //mintmirror.math.washington.edu/linuxmint-repo una main upstream import backport 2: deb http: //mirrors.accretive-networks.net/ubuntu focal main restricted universe multiverse 3: deb http: //mirrors.accretive-networks.net/ubuntu focal-updates main restricted universe multiverse 4: deb http: //mirrors.accretive-networks.net/ubuntu focal-backports main restricted universe multiverse 5: deb http: //security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ focal-security main restricted universe multiverse 6: deb http: //archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ focal partner Info: Processes: 304 Uptime: 26m Memory: 15.01 GiB used: 3.17 GiB (21.1%) Init: systemd v: 245 runlevel: 5 Compilers: gcc: 9.3.0 alt: 9 Client: Unknown python3.8 client inxi: 3.0.38
cat /proc/version_signature > version.log: No reports/outputs listed from that command sudo lspci -vnvn > lspci-vnvn.log: No reports/outputs listed from that command Thanks.
