The Ricoh SD card reader inside Dell Studio 1558 not recognizing SDHC cards (8GB transcend SDHC) 07:00.0 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd MMC/SD Host Controller (rev 01) Subsystem: Dell Device 0413 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 Memory at f0700000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: sdhci-pci 07:00.1 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5U2xx (R5U230 / R5U231 / R5U241) [Memory Stick Host Controller] (rev 01) Subsystem: Dell Device 0413 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 7 Memory at f0800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256] Capabilities: <access denied> dmesg reports a lot of these (see attached file): - mmcblk0: error -84 transferring data, sector 2048, nr 8, cmd response 0x900, card status 0x0 Card works fine on the same machine on Win 8.1 and other PCs. I wasn't able to test on Mainline Kernels due to the stupid ATI/AMD drivers not working with those kernels :-( I got the reader to work *one time only* with reloading the kernel modules: rmmod sdhci_pci rmmod sdhci modprobe sdhci modprobe sdhci_pci After the next reboot it didn't fix it anymore.
