I confirm this behaviour: with the dock firmware update (T440s in a ProDock for me), I can use external displays. I can have two external displays (two 1680x1050), one on HDMI port, an another on VGA port.
In normal mode, the two external displays are mirrored. But I can put them in extended desktop mode and have something like one 3360x1050 display. I'd preffer have two distinct displays, because today it's difficult to manage the windows size of the graphic applications (in particular, the automatic resize facility when you push the window to the bottom/top/left/right on in the corner). So, I expect an evolution. Nevertheless, the good news is that I can use 3 displays in the same time: the internal one and the two externals. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1275794 Title: Lenovo T440s freezes when connected to docking station Status in The Linux Kernel: Fix Released Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: This bug report looks to be for the same issue: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71267 I came across the above bug report here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1374408 I'm running with a Thinkpad T440s and ultra dock with hdmi<->hdmi. In my case if I dock when hdmi is connected to the dock, the mouse and keyboard freeze once connected. When I undock they unfreeze. If I dock when hdmi is not connected to the dock, the mouse and keyboard don't freeze.
