Looks it could not update the nvidia driver after the kernel update released today in nighly builds.
dpkg configure -a resolved a few issues and I can now swtich between internal and external displays. For the alloc magic error, I updated bios of the ASUS K50IN to the most recent one and it seems to have resolved it. However, this is too bad if that is the solution. All versions of ubuntu including 13.10 and lower worked on this laptop without a glitch. I would like to know what changed in 14.04 that it demanded a BIOS update. I will keep updating this thread as I find anything new -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1296916 Title: [ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
