Private bug reported:
The system should configure all compatible CXL devices of all types that
are installed in CXL enabled slots similar to how installed PCIe devices
are automatically recognized and configured. This will enable customers
to install and use 3rd party CXL spec compliant devices on the system.
There should be an option to disable CXL configuration by device/slot
and globally that would allow that device (or all devices) to configure
with standard PCIe and no CXL(if supported by the device).
If this capability is delivered post RTS, care should be taken to ensure
that customer environments remain stable across BIOS/UEFI updates.
For example, if a customer is using a CXL supporting NIC in PCIe-only
mode prior to release of the feature, upon upgrade of BIOS/UEFI that
contains the 3rd party CXL enablement, the NIC should continue to
operate in PCIe-only mode (CXL disable automatically set). The customer
would need to manually enable CXL for this device. Any CXL device that
is added after the BIOS/UEFI upgrade into a CXL enable slot would
automatically configure CXL mode.
