this change seems to break copying files within a CIFS mount (cp is getting killed, and dmesg contains a BUG entry pointing to cifs_flush_folio - see the attached dmesg.log).
Reproduced with 2 different Samba-shares with the current 6.5.0-32-generic linux-image. Not present in linux-image-6.5.0-26-generic Reverting "cifs: fix flushing folio regression for 6.1 backport" makes the issue disappear in my tests. (Which seems sensible, since, at a very quick glance, `66dabbb65d673aef40dd17bf62c042be8f6d4a4b` probably introduced the change in 6.4, and is part of the mantic source, while it is not in the 6.1 tree) ** Attachment added: "dmesg.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2055002/+attachment/5761425/+files/dmesg.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2055002 Title: Mantic update: upstream stable patchset 2024-02-27 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux source package in Mantic: Fix Committed Bug description: SRU Justification Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch.
