Today it crashed again even without going through a suspend/wakeup cycle, just after booting, don't know if that info may help though.

In this case it is always going to freeze: 1. Open the LID and power on. 2. Close the LID again immediately while its booting (using the external monitors attached to an USB-C dock via MST) 3. Will unfortunately automatically suspend now because of LID monitoring changes of systemd-logind (but that's another issue) 4. If I am now waking it up again by opening the LID its going to freeze and I need a hard cold reset with the power key to revive it.
