Title:
kernel hangs in pm-hibernate on saving to disk

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
Machine hangs with black screen during hibernation. Only hard powerdown / up
helps, but no hibernation image is found on boot.
Problem occurs in kernels 2.6.38-8 and 3.0-0, it does NOT in occur in
2.6.35-28.
I have tried maverick and natty with all 3 kernels. Also tried kernel
hibernation, uswsusp and tuxonice (from tuxonice ppa), neither make any
difference in the behaviour.
I have tried to unload modules but without any loaded modules the hanging
behaviour is still consistent.

Hardware is a Toshiba Qosmio X500 laptop with
Intel core-i7 and Nvidia GeForce GTS 360M
