Thanks a lot for your support, you are right, but I did not know how to
report a bug against the kernel or the libraries. I believe too that it
is not a `mc` (midnight commander) or a `cp` (copy) issue only, but a
problem within the Linux kernel /and/or/ the cifs libraries.
Unfortunately, I saw also problems within the other mount.

So I am switching between a `mount -t cifs //${SERVER}/${RESOURCE} ...`
using the cifs tools and `gio mount smb://${SERVER}/${RESOURCE}` since a
few years, because this is wobbling a little bit often.

`mc` is the best way of handling many files on `Windows network` and
android Smartphones together with a local directory structure.

Title:
Copying a file from or to a cifs mounted drive does not end

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When I copy a file with
  mc
or simply with 'cp' on Ubuntu 25.04, kernel 6.14.0-15, the copying does not
stop and instead of getting for instance a 1 kByte large file I have to press
ctrl-c (or kill mc) to stop because of the file gets larger and larger and
copying does not stop.

  Workarounds:
1st Using rsync to copy the file.
2nd Using the previous 6.11 kernel from Ubuntu 24.10 for copying.

  Remarks:
1st I destroyed local clones of git repositories where the repositories are
located at a Windows network compatible drive on the fritz box, so `git` is
affected too.
2nd Using `gio mount smb://Server/Drive` is no way, because I cannot clone
or pull a git repository from such a file. Also, not all files are copied if I
mark
them within `mc`, so there are other problems there.
3rd Tested on 3 different laptops.
