Title:
Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I play a DVD in full screen mode on my large monitor (2560 x 1440 pixels).
The CPU temperature quickly rises from about 50 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees,
causing the fan to run at full speed (which is noisy and irritating).
Running "top" shows that Totem is only using about 25% to 30% CPU. CPU is
running in Conservative mode at 800MHz (36% of full speed).

This behaviour does not occur in full screen mode on my smaller
monitor (1280 x 1024). Neither does it occur when I use another media
player (VLC) to play the DVD full screen. I have removed totem from my
system as VLC does not exhibit this bug.

Ubuntu version is 14.04 (64 bit desktop edition)

  Package version is as follows

  totem:
    Installed: (none)
    Candidate: 3.10.1-1ubuntu4

Computer is an Acer Aspire 5749 laptop with 8GB of RAM and an Intel
  Core i3-2330M processor
