It appears the root cause is the CD is not being detected in Linux -
/dev/sr0 - that is attached to a USB ,  is missing when the Install
process starts.

Bug description:
  The ppc 14.04 CD boots ok and the install process starts ;
  but it eventually fails during setup phase complaining it's can't find the 
CD; 

  Saucy ppc ISO boots and installs a p4080 cts-1000 base system ok , but 
requires 
  additional post install steps ( adding grub and installing e500mc kernel deb
