The current solution is recompilation of the kernel, which works, but unfortunately turns downloading a kernel update into a huge chore. Please fix this upstream. Following the solution in the second link works well, but perhaps it would be better for HID_MAX_USAGES to be revised to either be a sysctl or updated to reflect newish hardware?
