I have the same issues as descibed above with brand new Intel 7260ac card. Dell E4300 laptop - (4GB/Samsung evo 250gb) on Ubuntu 14.04 3.13.0-24-generic Intel Driver version - 22.24.8.0 (this is shown when running "dmesg | grep iwl" in terminal)
Fresh install of Linux and all updates installed - this issue has occured on the prior installation of Ubuntu as well. Will work connect perfectly on boot and works fine for 10mins - a few hours then it drops out and won't reconnect until system is put in standby (shut lid to standby) and then power back up (open lid to power back up) - then wifi connects and runs fine. I too get the varying signal strength issue - not physically moving laptop at all and signal will jump from 4 bars to 1 then after a while it jumps back to 4 bars again. Laptop is only 4-5 meters away from WiFi router but through one heavy brick wall. I have tried upping the output of the router (Linksys w/ DD-WRT) from 100 dB to 120 then 140 but this made the connection worse (noise to signal was awful). Once router reset back to default at 100dB it returned to the same as prior. Apologies for the wall of text. :) Kind regards, Ej. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305305 Title: 8086:08b1 [Sony VAIO SVP1321M2E] Wifi keeps dropping. Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Using a Sony Vaio Pro 13 with Ubuntu 14.04 the wifi keeps dropping. Sometimes all the time, at times after a bit longer (~10 min). A few packages ago it didn't drop, but was really, really, slow. Now it completely drops. Adding the following to modprobe.conf made no change: options iwlwifi 11ac_disable=1 options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 After each new row I ran: sudo modprobe -rfv iwlwifi sudo modprobe -v iwlwifi Tried turning off the power management of wlan0 without any change. WORKAROUND: Within 2 m I have full speed and no disconnects.
