** Description changed:

Iḿ on an Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830 TG Laptop (64bit), on which i have
Ubuntu 12.04 Precise 64bit installed, and all works fine. Now i
installed Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty (32bit !) as a portable OS on a USB Stick
(LVM,encrypted) with no Problems, but it has this weird problem with
Wifi: The Atheros Wireless Adapter, more precisely the the hard block
option, keeps turning on and off within about 10 seconds. Tried loads of
things concerning acer_wmi, ath9k, software/hardware encryption etc. to
no avail. The Laptop doesnt have any hardware switch, only Fn+F3, which
doesnt do anything (in 12.04 it works correctly). Bluetooth works fine.

  rfkill list gives this:

  0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
  1: acer-bluetooth: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
  2: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: YES
  3: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
   Ten seconds later:
  0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
  1: acer-bluetooth: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
  2: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: NO
  3: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

Another 10 seconds later back to the first output. During the second
phase i can shortly see my wifi router and others, it attempts to
connect but never seems to accomplish before Wifi goes off again...

It doesnt have anything to do with the router as this beheaviour stays
when i remove my wifi from the network-manager.

- Now the interesting part: when i reboot into my well working 12.04, i
- get the exact same behaviour! Must be some Initialisation of the Wifi
- adapter that stays in the hardware on reboot. couldnt find anyone else
- via google with this exact issue. Help appreciated!
