Title:
  Frequent GPU hangs

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  My machine locks up for several seconds at a time quite regularly.
  During this time, nothing on the screen responds to input. Eventually
  it unfreezes, and I see this in dmesg:

  [87414.775168] [drm] stuck on render ring
  [87414.775176] [drm] GPU crash dump saved to /sys/class/drm/card0/error
  [87414.775178] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx
stack, including userspace.
  [87414.775179] [drm] Please file a _new_ bug report on bugs.freedesktop.org
against DRI -> DRM/Intel
  [87414.775182] [drm] drm/i915 developers can then reassign to the right
component if it's not a kernel issue.
  [87414.775195] [drm] The gpu crash dump is required to analyze gpu hangs, so
please always attach it.
