I'm not sure if it's fixed or not.
On the machines there are 2 slots, one icon on the machine is head phone, and 
another icon is microphone.
With the dkms, plug-in the microphone into the microphone jack, in the audio 
settings the input device will switch to external microphone.
With the proposed kernel, plug-in the microphone into microphone jack, nothing 
happens, but plug-in into  head phone jack, it works.

I've tested headset and pure microphone and plugin to the microphone
jack, the behavior is the same, with dkms it works, but with preposed
kernel, nothing happens. It looks like the only working jack is the
headphone jack.

  While plugging mic to side input jack, the device list does not receive any 
update in Sound setting. Besides, external microphone does not record anything.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Goto "System Settings > Sound"
  2. Click on Input tab
  3. Plug the external micrphone
  4. Record some sounds

  Expected result:
  The device list should be updated in Sound setting, and some voice can be 
recorded.

  Actual result:
  Input device remains the same as "Internal Microphone", and no voices get to 
recorded.
