Helpful bug reporting tips: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1075407 BCM4322 Wireless Stopped Working after 3.5.0-18.29-generic Kernel Update ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => bcmwl (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: bcmwl (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1094289 Title: Kernel 3.5.0-21 breaks BCM43225 WIFI; 3.5.0-17 works Status in “bcmwl” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Installed 12.10 on an HP Touchsmart TM2 with a fresh install from a USB key, AMD64 with wifi access, with installation updates permitted. This gave a fully working laptop on kernel 3.5.0-17. Running the post- installation software-update loaded 3.5.0-21 by default after reboot and the wifi hardware failed to be detected (Broadcom 43225). Rebooting back into 3.5.0-17 with no other changes and all worked perfectly again (bug report attachments were made with this version but running 'ubuntu-bug linux-image-3.5.0-21-generic'). This is not my laptop, so I will not be able to test any other kernels after 5 Jan 2013. lshw ... *-network description: Wireless interface product: BCM43225 802.11b/g/n vendor: Broadcom Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:03:00.0 logical name: eth2 version: 01 serial: [removed] width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes driver=wl0 driverversion=5.100.82.112 ip=10.255.0.2 latency=0 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11 resources: irq:17 memory:e2400000-e2403fff ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: linux-image-3.5.0-21-generic 3.5.0-21.32 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-17.28-generic 3.5.5 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu9 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: isabel 2083 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: isabel 2083 F.... pulseaudio CRDA: Error: command ['iw', 'reg', 'get'] failed with exit code 1: nl80211 not found.
