Title:
Screen backlight is wrong controlled on Macbook Pro (1G, 2G, 3G -
  Intrepid)

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Whatever the Macbook Pro is running on AC power or on battery, gutsy
always sets the screen backlight to a very low level after some
inactivity time (watching a video for instance). Manually setting the
backlight value to a correct one just fixes the issue until it is
  decreased again by the system.

Seems to occur on Macbook Pro 1G and 2G:

In my case, I'm running Gutsy Ubuntu + ATI fglrx 8.43 (november 2007).

The problems occurs with and without compiz fusion effects.
