On my Latitude 2110, the brightness control keys (Fn+Up and Fn+Down) seem to appear through two different devices, /dev/input/event3 ("AT Translated Set 2 keyboard") and /dev/input/event4 ("Video Bus"). The keys also control the screen brightness, even in a text console.
