Although the approach taken by openvpn is also good, in that all config file options are allowed by commandline and vice-versa via simple gnu style '--' options, the config file then becomes a listing of these options, and multiple configurations are simply handled by multiple files. but I think I still prefer getcap for consistency despite it's quirks.
