Hi,
I had experienced that my laptop's BIOS hangs up when I don't specify
fdisk's -C option! The source code in question in fdisk.c follows:
I checked the archives because I remembered that somebody had reported that
before. Turns out it was you in February.
Okay, first off, the BIOS doesn't have any business looking at the slice table.
However, it obviously does (and fdisk(8) indicates that other BIOSes do that
as well).
This means we can't do this by default. I'd like to find the bug reports which
provoked this change in the first place, anybody have some pointers?
To conclude, I am very sorry that you had to screw open your laptop several
times to make it work again. I'll commit a fix ASAP.
cheers
