Hmm.. totally agreed r.e. directory auth being a 'good thing' - however - I recently was able to do a NIS compatibility test using DF+ssh (though this is not /sbin/login, etc) and we do have nsswitch and pam, correct? I'm not clear why 'using nsswitch implies dynamic linking' Again - I'm not out to cause controversy, but seek understanding. Cheers, - Chris
