May I ask why not? As a kernel developer I found them very useful. I'll gladly admit that they should probably be in a separate sub-package, not -doc itself, although if you're dropping that altogether then it does not matter. Not having them at all is quite inconvenient, and I quite often find myself missing them ... Maybe drop the html docs, and re-introduce the man pages?
