But I didn't change any options from what worked with 5.7. There were new configuration options with 5.8 that I left turned off; maybe it was one of them, though none of them had anything to do with smp that I could determine. I was afraid it might be something like this, but was hoping that you would be aware of some obvious change to the kernel that would cause this.
