Why do you think that these changes would cause "3rd party modules to be
removed"?

* the first patch instead of manually removing files generated by depmod now
%ghosts them
* the directory ownership just moves an existing from one package to another

I didn't try, but I'd expect rpm would continue to do what I think it usually
does: if some file (e.g. a 3rd party module) exists in a directory that is
owned by a package that is uninstalled, said directory and file will stay
behind.
