Actually I'm having 2 separate problems:

1) I have a USB3 port on my laptop that has worked in the past, but is
now not seeing anything from opensuse with a 3.4 kernel.

2) I have another USB3 port on the same laptop that is working. With
it I at least get some dmesg output when I connect the kingwin:

[236458.796086] xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: ERROR: unexpected command
completion code 0x0.
[236463.995421] xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: Timeout while waiting for
address device command
[236464.196428] usb 4-1: device not accepting address 11, error -62
[236466.476660] xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: ERROR: unexpected command
completion code 0x0.
[236466.677534] usb 4-1: new SuperSpeed USB device number 12 using xhci_hcd
[236466.692827] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=05e3, idProduct=0731
[236466.692838] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=3, Product=4,
SerialNumber=5
[236466.692844] usb 4-1: Product: USB to S-ATA
[236466.692849] usb 4-1: Manufacturer: Genesyslogic
[236466.692854] usb 4-1: SerialNumber: 0000000000000013
[236466.694884] scsi16 : usb-storage 4-1:1.0

The connected disk still does not show up.

I have never worked with the usb subsystem. I would really like to
get this device to work because of its size. ie. it is very small and
portable.

Any trouble shooting of kernel updating advice appreciated.

Thanks
Greg
