Need help in figuring out how the IP stack is implemented in the kernel.

Hi,

            I am a typical newbie trying to get my bearings right in the
kernel. I feel that networking would provide a suitable entry point for
me as I have some networking background. Can any one suggest where I
need to start to decipher the IP stack implementation in the kernel.
