Check this out: gonzui.sourceforge.net. Gonzui is ruby-based, and it is quite fast. When you index your own source with gonzui, please make sure that there is no object files within it as well, as it seemed to index everything. My preference is gonzui over lxr. For example: http://xen.begi.net:46984/markup/xen-unstable.hg for Xen's kernel.
