When code in the kernel is run it can run in:
interrupt context e.g. when the device raises an interrupt or a timer expires
kernel process context - when it creates a thread
"user space program executing a syscall" context
There are some other cases as well, like softirq, tasklets, ...
A module can create as many kernel processes and compiled-in code can create
processes too (and does so).
