i'm sure this question will be the cause of great hilarity, but is
there a way to switch root back to my kernel's internal initramfs.
occasionally, i need to drop into that mode and the only way to do it
is to reboot the system, which is easy, of course, but it would be
cool if i didn't have to do that.

  i'm thinking the answer is no, but i'm willing to be pleasantly
surprised.
