Hi All I am trying to map a buffer allocated with kmalloc to user space using mmap() and immediately unmapping that with munmap() in a loop for some testing purpose.
But I get the kernel panic after some time (means after some iterations of the above loop) with message below : login: ----------- [cut here ] --------- [please bite here ] --------- Kernel BUG at rmap:479 invalid operand: 0000 [1] SMP CPU 3 Modules linked in: ccp_ib(U) ccp(U) md5 ipv6 parport_pc lp parport autofs4 i2c_dev i2c_core nfs lockd nfs_acl sund id: 5533, comm: try Tainted: PF 2.6.9-42.ELsmp RIP: 0010:[<ffffffff8016f15b>] <ffffffff8016f15b>{page_remove_rmap+39} RSP: 0000:000001021eb6bc68 EFLAGS: 00010286 RAX: 00000000ffffffff RBX: 0000010001079380 RCX: 0000010001079380 RDX: 0000000000230000 RSI: 00000000002281a6 RDI: 000001022fe45c50 RBP: 000001022fe45c50 R08: 0000000000000002 R09: 000001021eb6bd60 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000008 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: 000001021edcf478 R14: 80000002281a6020 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffffffff804e5200(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 000000008005003b CR2: 000000000000080f CR3: 00000000069d4000 CR4: 00000000000006e0 Process try (pid: 5533, threadinfo 000001021eb6a000, task 00000102273157f0) Stack: 0000000001000080 ffffffff80167e13 0000000000001000 0000002a95690000 000001021afdc558 0000002a9568f000 000001021f236550 0000002a95690000 0000002a9568f000 0000010001079380 Call Trace:<ffffffff80167e13>{unmap_vmas+1345} <ffffffff8016d08c>{exit_mmap+144} <ffffffff801359b9>{mmput+102} <ffffffff80139e1c>{do_exit+632} <ffffffff8014159c>{__dequeue_signal+458} <ffffffff8013a8f6>{sys_exit_group+0} <ffffffff80143418>{get_signal_to_deliver+1084} <ffffffff8010f6fb>{do_signal+131} <ffffffff8016cd55>{do_mmap_pgoff+1610} <ffffffff8016cd55>{do_mmap_pgoff+1610} <ffffffff801ea645>{__up_write+20} <ffffffff80110902>{retint_signal+62} Code: 0f 0b b7 b0 32 80 ff ff ff ff df 01 9c 8f 04 24 fa 48 c7 c2 RIP <ffffffff8016f15b>{page_remove_rmap+39} RSP <000001021eb6bc68> <0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Oops If anybody has experienced this problem and have any solution, please reply.
