i've already done that for ubuntu: http://www.crashcourse.ca/wiki/index.php/New_kernel_on_Ubuntu_10.04 although i didn't know at the time that ubuntu automates a bit of that with a "make-kpkg" utility, so i'll be updating that page shortly, but as it is, it works just fine. rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P.
