I'm still a newcomer concerning programming and packaging, but you are using setup.py with distutils, right? a) To make a source package, you execute: python setup.py sdist b) You also need a MANIFEST file to tell setup.py which files to package with a source package. That's all I needed in order to make a simple source package.
