One thing I noticed about the screenshot here... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4IfYnHLEdnY/Slu05q-ZTfI/AAAAAAAAAq0/RNF2e3BYQx4/s1600-h/yastshee1.png ...it's got the category thing going on while displaying all packages, not just the top-level apps in gnome-app-install-data. It would take a lot of doing to get lib packages to go fit into categories like top-level apps. So unfortunately, it still looks like it's going to have to be a Synaptic or an Add/Remove Programs style interface or an inclusion of both (advanced/simple view).
Besides that technicality, it's a very clean interface and easy to understand almost at first glance. I think we'll have to strive for that kind of simplicity in the Keryx 1.0 interface while still including all the features necessary in a portable package manager.
