I'm migrating our TCP proxy repository from 2.6.13-stable to
2.6.16-stable and I had a compile problem in arch/i386/kernel/entry.S;
So I merged in the 2.6.16 kgdb patch to the 2.6.16-stable repo and
then back into our repo that I merged with 2.6.16-stable.
The kernel runs but I'm having a tcp problem I want to look at with
kgdb. The system responds to pings but you can't ssh to it; perhaps a
merge problem with the changes in the request sock (previous
open_request) with the new inet_sock.
So when I try to attach with kgdb the system just hangs and when I
enabled some debug printfs in the kgdb functions nothing shows up
on the screen or /var/log/messages. Last year when I added Jason's
kgdboe patch to 2.6.12 I didn't have a problem trading the kgdb
functions. Did something change? My guess is I may have a conflict
with some of the old kgdb patch with the new kgdb patch that didn't
show up in the merge.
So I fixed the compile problem with my old repository thats merged
with 2.6.16-stable but doesn't have the newer 2.6.16 kgdb patch.
I had to change the ENTRY()'s to KPROBE_ENTRY()'s:
KPROBE_ENTRY(ret_from_fork)
KPROBE_ENTRY(device_not_available)
KPROBE_ENTRY(spurious_interrupt_bug)
Do you, or anyone else on the mailing list, happen to know why
this change is necessary and the other code that might be involved.
I also haven't even been able to get a generic 2.6.16-stable kernel with
the 2.6.16 kgdb patch to work yet with via the ethernet link. Might
try the serial and see if that works any better. The 2.6.16 kgdb patch
applied without any rejects; so I'm a bit surprised it didn't work
right out of the box.
