I'm not sure how it fits in with the aesthetic of your new icons, but I really liked the last (present?) kicad icon. (An OpAmp: it's symbol, footprint, and package stacked on top of each other)
I think it captures the spirit of electronics design and the nature of kicad (schematic capture, pcb layout, 3d visualization) Maybe the old icon can be tweaked to fit your new style?
