OK this was making my GITHUB plugin look bad so I jumped right on it. :) Things are good now. See the commit log of 4382. I was pleased to see that I could use the module editor to "save current library as another" and save a github library as a pretty library locally. The delay when first opening the Github library is now the only delay. After that the caching actually works now and you can scroll through all the footprints in a particular library instantaneously. Possibly I broke something, but nothing should be too hard to fix. The concept has been proven. We are through the woods, may have some woodchips between our toes though.
