It was created by Fabrizio Tappero in 2012. Adafruit asked for a Kicad logo suitable to make a patch or a badge for Kicad. (You cannot make a patch from a too complicated logo) Fabrizio volunteered to create a few logos. Thanks, Fabrizio.
